Good Shepherd Episcopal School appoints New Head of School

Congratulations to Rachel Duree, newly appointed Head of School at Good Shepherd Episcopal School in Austin, Texas. Bob Kirkpatrick and Dave Davies of The Education Group are pleased to have assisted the search committee in the process. Rachel will become Head of School in July 2024 after serving as Interim Head for the 2023-2024 school year.

The Message from the Board

Rachel has clearly demonstrated herself as an exceptional leader and respected member of our community.  Her positive attitude, love of children, admiration from peers, and overall pride in all that is Good Shepherd – the same qualities that made Rachel a wonderful teacher – were evident as Rachel took on and thrived in the Interim role this fall.  It takes a truly unique individual to succeed as both a teacher and a Head of School and Rachel has flourished in both roles.

The Board ran a broad and thoughtful search, which is our duty and responsibility to the community.  Rachel earned this role and is the right person to lead us into the future.

I would also like to thank our Search Committee Chair, Jennah Granger, and the other Committee Members including Channing Smith, Whitney Knight, Jessica Sherrets, Margaret Long and Callie Hester for their steadfast commitment to this process.

The Board is grateful to the entire Good Shepherd community for your engagement and interest in the search.  We ask for your continued support as Rachel assumes this key role in continuing our school’s success.

I am confident that the best days of Good Shepherd are ahead of us.
