Mary Beth Marchiony
Mary Beth Marchiony brings to The Education Group over 40 years of experience in education at the elementary, secondary, and collegiate levels at a range of public, independent, and Catholic institutions. She recently retired after serving for five years as principal/president of Bishop Dunne Catholic School, a diverse Catholic school (Sixth through Twelfth Grades) in Dallas, TX.
During her two tenures as a head of school, in Topeka and Dallas, Mary Beth brought stability at critical junctures in the schools’ histories. At Bishop Dunne, working closely with the Catholic Diocese of Dallas, Mary Beth promoted fiscal responsibility, boosted faculty salaries, and improved enrollment while guiding the school through the intricacies of the Covid pandemic. In three of her five years, a member of the Bishop Dunne faculty was selected as Diocesan Teacher of the Year. Mary Beth served for five years as Head of School at Topeka (KS) Collegiate School (PK through 8), Topeka’s only independent school. During this period, Mary Beth brought stability after a difficult period in the school’s history.
Mary Beth began her career in college admissions, first at Marymount University (VA) and then at Georgetown University. As Regional Director of Admissions at Georgetown, among the nation’s most selective universities, she helped coordinate the university’s Alumni Admissions Program, a national network of Georgetown alumni who conduct interviews with prospective students.
She used her college admissions experience to transition to the work of college guidance. Mary Beth worked at The Pembroke Hill School, an independent school (Pre-K through 12th) in Kansas City, Mo., where she served as Director of College Guidance and Associate Director of Admissions, along with teaching, advising, and coaching. During her years at Pembroke Hill, she earned a master’s degree in history from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and spent a year as a Klingenstein Fellow at Teachers College-Columbia University.
When her husband’s job took the family to Indianapolis, Mary Beth joined the staff at Park Tudor School (PK through 12). She served for three years as Director of Admissions and Financial Aid, building enrollment, and enhancing the school’s diversity.
She also worked in admissions at Wesleyan University and read applications for the Morehead-Cain Foundation at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Before becoming Head of School at Topeka Collegiate, Mary Beth served for six years as an academic advisor for student-athletes at the University of Kansas.
Mary Beth and her husband, Jim, are the parents of Donald (wife Blair), and grandparents to Beckett, Millie, and Oliver, who live in the Dallas area.
